Cover Letter:
Dear Professor Lauren,
For the presentation of visual-based memoir, I would like to focus on the rhetorical analysis of my photo essays. Since my topic of this assignment aims at persuading the audience of slowing down and observing the beauty of nature, I took many photos of Emory campus. In my presentation, I would like to introduce the reason that I chose this topic. I would mention the influence of environmental science class I had in the first year at Emory, and this class “forced” me to observe the nature. In the high school, I did not go outside often and ignored the nature in the surroundings. With the influence of Emory, I begin to integrate myself into the nature. I will present the pictures I took and introduce the techniques I used for the photos. For example, I combined two photos together to make a contrast. For the first photo, I combined a photo of a rushed car and the photo of trees on campus. It contrasts the motion and the tranquil atmosphere. I also changed the lightness and the hue of the photos, and I also blurred other parts except the areas I would like to catch the eyes of the audience. By using these techniques, my photos could express my idea more clearly. Although we are busy with our schoolwork and have a fast-paced life, we should not ignore the beauty of nature. I hope every audience will understand my idea and change themselves in daily life.
