Actually, it is my first time to create a website by using weebly, and I encountered various challenges. At first, I did not how to change the format and the background of the website. Since I was not good at internet and computer, I was so worried and I sent many emails to my professor to ask for help. After discussing my website with ESL tutor and my professor, I began to learn the techniques of creating it. In order to trigger positive emotions of the audience when they visit my website, I chose the pink background containing smiling children. I believe that pink is a magical color that it can bring about happiness, warmth and relaxing sense to people. Then, I gave a name of “where I am from...” as the title of my website, because I believe this title will attract the audience and raise a question among them. Where am I from? Why I use this phrase as my topic? Then, after they read the introduction part at the home page, they will understand the purpose of this title, and have more interest to explore in my website.
On the home page, I would like to create a category for the audience, and help them to find each parts of my work directly and conveniently. Thus, I add the links in the part of category, and the audience can track my work easily. Besides, I also choose some photos in order to emphasize the topic of the relationship between place, space and ourselves. These pictures are really obvious and they can catch the eyes of the audience when they visit the website. Then, I create an additional page to address specific and well-defined subtopics. This page provides focused information regarding my reflections for the various artifacts I have produced for this course and a self-evaluation of my work during the semester. In order to express the idea that my current place is Emory University, I also choose one photo of Emory University’s gate to emphasize this idea. Then, I divide all the work into three parts: blogs, process work, and citation. For blogs part, it contains all formal assignments that I work for this semester. For example, it contains all the version two of persuasive essays, reflection of version one essays, and some proposals when I wrote the drafts of the essays. In order to express the contents of my assignment more clearly, I also add photos especially for the visual-based memoir, and these photos can help the audience understand my idea in an explicit way. For the part of process work, it contains all the exercises and reflections of each reading assignment. Since I would like to share my ideas and the process of my writing development to others, even though my professor does not ask us to post all of our exercise online, I still would like to record them as important sources. The citation part is used to help the audience read the works cited part directly, so I combine all of them on this page.
Besides the blogs of writing exercise and assignments, I also add my photo and self-introduction on the page of “About”. If any audience would like to contact with me, I am glad that they can write to me via email I provide at the end part on this page..
